apr 7: death spiral day
<< wiffle day our lady of spam day >>

jenni wednesday, i got into work at 9:45am. i sent a few emails telling people i was back from vacation. i ate yogurt and made myself some decaf coffee, in an attempt to fool myself that there was caffeine in it. it didn't help, so i spent some time with my head on my desk, waiting for the painkillers to kick in. dave showed up at 11:30, and we spent an hour or so talking about the trip. i wrote a database and frontend for the travelogue. i sent a few more emails. one of our vp's came in and remarked that it was incredible that the two of us were both there in the office at one time. we're not around that much anymore. he said that he just wanders in whenever, answers some email, and hangs out. we all laughed knowingly. the girl from finance came in and we discussed the fact that our company owes money to everyone, and that she doesn't answer her phone anymore, because she has nothing to tell the collectors. we discussed how everyone that leaves is replaced by someone in the new jersey office, and how they're slowly shutting us down. and we laughed some more, because we can't even be angry or upset anymore. we're a part of the slowest death spiral in history, and it's nothing but funny.

heather When I think of death spiral day i think of this one Christmas ornament I have, cheap silver spiral on a red ribbon. Nothing special, doesn't even bring to mind death, and yet I think of it on this day.
